Qatar Navigation continues to dominate the Feeder traffic between Qatar and UAE for both imported and exported containers. Amongst feeder operators QN remains No.1 with a market share of over 90% of total Exports and Imports in containers. Qatar Navigation operated a total of 17 marine vessels during 2005 including fully cellularised vessels, open-top barges, towing tugs and harbour tugs. Qatar Navigation carried exclusively all Qapco & Q-Chem exports of petrochemicals as well as bringing in all their requirements of empty containers. As for the Qatari Containerized Imports, Qatar Navigation was the leader operator – by far – carrying more than 80% of the Imported Containers. Hereunder is a comparison of total carryings and earnings showing the growth amount and percentage on year –on-year basis. The total sailings for the year 2005 were 444 voyages.
